This timeline shows the labeled four-week escalation stages for Wegovy injection. It does not mean every patient must increase on this exact schedule.
The introductory dose is used to begin treatment and help reduce gastrointestinal intolerance during initiation.
The dose generally increases to 0.5 mg after the first four weeks when treatment is continued.
One milligram is the next stage in the standard Wegovy injection progression.
For adult weight reduction, 1.7 mg may be used as a maintenance dose based on treatment response and tolerability.
The recommended Wegovy maintenance dose for adult weight reduction is generally 2.4 mg once weekly.
Common Wegovy® Maintenance Doses for Adult Weight Reduction
Current U.S. labeling identifies 1.7 mg or 2.4 mg once weekly as adult weight-reduction maintenance doses, with 2.4 mg recommended. For certain adults who tolerate 2.4 mg for at least four weeks and need additional weight reduction, a provider may prescribe 7.2 mg.
7.2 mg Is Not Part of the Initial Four-Week Timeline
The 7.2 mg dose may be considered only for certain adults who have tolerated 2.4 mg for at least four weeks and for whom additional weight reduction is clinically indicated. It should not be selected or started without a prescription.
